Pre-Season Power Rankings 2018

Pre-Season Power Rankings

The Santa Barbara Raider Fans Fantasy Football League begins its thirteenth season. What’s that mean? Middle school? Pimples? Puberty is the stage that takes one from child to adult. Bah humbug. Growing up is overrated.

The SBRFFFL has not yet been around forever, but 13 years is getting there. A total of 26 franchises have been cool enough to join the SBRFFFL. Four of the Original Six still toil in the league. Ten of the current teams in the league have been around for 11 or more seasons. The other 16 teams have averaged 3.4 seasons before calling it quits. Six teams were one and done. Not everyone, apparently, has their priorities figured out.

The SBRFFFL has been something of a family affair. The Roberts family has had four franchises, though only one remains. We’ve got two Parrys. Four of the Lohnas clan have suited up, with Ty and Todd the two active members. The Reids have brought us five teams, with current members Rick, Bob, and Stephanie producing three of the top four franchises in the pre-season rankings.

Below are said pre-season rankings. Yes, I am ranking teams before the draft. The rankings are based on the four numbers below. Points were primarily earned from winning percentages. Postseason win percentage was weighted equal to the regular season statistic. So teams that regularly tank find themselves towards the bottom. Loyalty to the league and titles won both earned bonus points.

My co-commissioner, Rick Tagliabue, got a PhD in wordsmithery, so look to him for the pithy comments and wry humor. I’m a bit more Captain Obvious, though I do have a B.S. degree. Thanks College!

My heart and brain both agree that I should get back to doing the Power Rankings weekly. Why? Priorities, duh. And maybe if I pay better attention, I might get that second Lombardi Trophy. Good luck to all of the rest of you in your quest for second.

Our reigning champion boast the second best regular season win percentage and the best postseason win percentage. A proven winner with 9 winning seasons out of 11. They’ve also finished second three times to go with their two titles.
